Kids + Arts= Summer Fun
OLA culminates its summer with a slam!
“Welcome to DiverseCiti where
it’s real cool to live and you don’t have to be the same. You can even
be different. Think it you can be it, if you want it you can reach
it….”
Those were the opening lines of the Citi’s proclamation. OLA campers' DiverseCiti
was indeed an inimitable excursion to a place of original spoken word,
organic music created from djembes mixed with buckets, a drum kit,
cans, shutters, and shakers created from bottles filled with rice and
beans, melodious voices, and a seamless fused dance of African, hip hop
and creative movement. It was nothing short of brilliant and a
cross-cultural experience for everyone. At the program’s close, the
audience actively engaged in the Citi’s festivities as everyone in attendance danced in the aisles and chanted the lyrics to TobyMac’s Diverse City.
Camp was an amazing journey for all who sojourned. It is definitely a summer that none of the OLA family will soon forget. OLA invites you to take a glance at what happened over those eight weeks.
